Anybody that knows me will tell you I LOVE watching TV. I don’t know if it has anything to do with me being a daydreamer and wanderluster but I just love anything that can help me escape to another part of the world, a new story, an exciting adventure…even if it takes place in a women’s prison L O L. I do admit it is a necessity to take time for yourself and truly disconnect from social media and electronics but for now I’ll appreciate having the time to self-indulge in this favorite pastime.

I am an avid TV watcher and ever since streaming became a thing, binging on TV shows and finding the next best show or movie has never been easier. But surfing the categories on all of these streaming services can be a bit overwhelming, especially when you probably have just a couple of hours, and if you don’t come in with an agenda, you will most likely spend 50% of the time you have to watch something just searching for what to watch. For that reason I decided that at least once a month I will do a quick recap of my favorite things available to stream. Enjoy and as always any recommendations for this TV junkie are more than welcome!

  • Big Little Lies – This show has received a lot of praise recently, it premiered in February and has already taken the world by storm. Based on the book Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, this women-drived limited series is focused on a murder that occurred in the small town of Monterey, California. We are quickly introduced to the lives of 3 doting mothers with apparent perfect lives and a not-so-perfect world behind closed doors. I personally love this show and if you haven’t seen it you are truly missing a masterpiece. The lives of these mothers have so many layers, some very relatable and some not-so-common. Just try to watch the pilot and I assure you, you will be hooked. Network: HBO
  • Wild – Another one based on a book, a book I have not read, Wild takes you through a women’s journey into rediscovering herself and heal from a recent loss. Based on the book Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed, takes you on Cheryl’s journey through this hike, which she takes with no prior experience. The movie is shown through a series of flashbacks of her childhood, memories of her mother, struggle with drugs, and marriage. Network: Available to rent through Amazon and Vudu
  • Desperate Housewives – I know, I know, I’m a little late to this party but if you are a bit like me, you will enjoy this gem at any moment. Desperate Housewives takes you through the lives of the housewives of Wisteria Lane. Enjoy all the murder, mystery, laughter, romance and candid seduction in this true soapy classic. Network: Hulu
  • Sing – This one is for everyone that still enjoys cartoon movies! I’ve started to think that cartoon movies get better as we age, you start to notice all the little nuances that aren’t THAT PG-rated haha. Anyways, this movie is pretty great. It has an awesome cast and soundtrack, as well as an engaging storyline. Obviously, keeping in tone with the female empowerment in this post, the movie shows us Rosita, a stay-at-home mom that finally finds the strength to embrace her talents and put the spotlight on her. You should definitely watch it on your next movie night. I promise you will be singing along throughout. Network: Available to rent through Amazon and Vudu
